Small Groups

Small, home-based study and fellowship groups are central to digging into the nuggets of truth God has for us both in His word and in His family. “As iron sharpens iron”, there is no substitute for the accountability and affirmation that come through growing together into Christ’s likeness. We have chosen the small group approach rather than that of Sunday school at WellSpring, because this method of discipleship allows for multiple “entry points” throughout the week as far as dates, times, and locations are concerned. Small groups are forever birthing, growing, and multiplying, so no one feels like a “latecomer” to an already established “system”.

Small groups are as well the solution to continuing to “feel small” as we “grow larger.” Growth is not an option at WellSpring, as long as one lost person remains within driving distance! However, we are content to grow as God desires, knowing full well that, as we seek to put Him first and love people as Jesus would….in Spirit and in truth….then all else will fall into place. We are not responsible for the breadth of this ministry; that's God's job.  Yet we faithfully accept the responsibility that He gives us for the depth of it.

Our WellSpring Summer 2011 Small Group schedule:

Adult Bible Study - Led by Dr. Beale on Wednesday Nights at 6:30.  We are delving into the Gospel of John, chapter by chapter, having begun May 18 and continuing as long as it takes!  This class is designed to help adults learn from the conservative historical perspective the Biblical truths that we as Christians need today in order to live holy and healthy lives of faith in Jesus Christ.  All adults are welcome to discuss and learn together.  Our children (K-3 and 4th-6th) meet for their own separate time of fun/worship/crafts/study/prayer at this time. Our youth, 7th-12th grade, meet for Overflow in the sanctuary now on Sunday nights from 4-6 P.M.

WellSpring Women's Fellowship--meets the third Sunday of every month, following worship at 12:15.  We play, pray, fellowship, and enjoy favorite finger foods as our devotion is rotated among the women of WellSpring.  See Ava Forsythe for more information!  Our next gathering is June 19th, and we'll be celebrating Fathers' Day!

WellSpring Men's Ministry--meets weekly for Bible Study (Raymond Pike) and as needed to tackle all sorts of projects inside and out!  Shepherded by Gary Forsythe, it blesses the entire church as we watch multiple transformations take place.

"DIVE classes" --At WellSpring, we are committed to moving people through a series of discipleship classes in order to develop spiritual maturity and leadership potential.   This pursuit, led by Brother Mike, will include a series of four ongoing classes throughout the year, designed to take each of us to a new level of depth in our walk with God through Christ as well as build spiritual leadership in our fellowship.  Each one builds upon the other; therefore, we all start with 101 and move on through.  These classes will be held in the fellowship hall on Sunday afternoons for those who are interested in earning their DIVE certificate.  Our core team are encouraged to make a commitment to attend these classes in order to develop and grow as Christian disciples.

WellSpring 101 - (3 hours total - two sessions) - Introduction to faith, WellSpring's core values, and the spiritual life.
WellSpring 201 - (4 hours total - two, two-hour sessions) - Introduction to spiritual disciplines and the spiritual gifts inventory; how does God intend to use the spiritual gifts He has given you in ministry at WellSpring?
WellSpring 301 - (18 hours total - twelve sessions) - Experiences in prayer; exploring prayer and your personality through a variety of prayer approaches.
WellSpring 401 - (18 hours total - twelve sessions) - Spiritual leadership, including leading small groups, mission teams, and evangelism.
Sign-up lists for the next 101 group will be available for fall.  As a group moves from 101 and the next classes get rolling, each will likely meet twice a month rather than every week so that two may run concurrently!

“When the energy of a multitude sharing in worship… becomes the intimacy of a few gathered in a living room. When the exhilaration of rejoicing voices all around you… quiets into the significance of a caring arm around you. To reach out more intensely, to share more deeply, to care more personally. To find the incredibly big…in the delightfully small. “
